Felder Gallery gem and jewelry show
The Felder Gallery is having a gem and jewelry show.
Chris Parachini returns to the Felder Gallery, 1726 Hwy 361, Suite F in the Tower Center in Port Aransas this Saturday, February 11th from 10:00am to 6:00pm to show his entire collection of gemstones from around the world.
“After living in Brazil and traveling the World selling gems, my wife and I moved to Austin to raise our six children and begin a new line of jewelry,”explained Parachini. Parachini has cut gems for Diane Malouf, Anthony Nak, David Yurman, Becky Kelso and Caroline Clive; as well as Stuller, Fire Mountain Gems and Rio Grande. His gemstones have been sold by Saks, Barneys and Neiman Marcus. Many dignitaries and celebrities wear Parachini gems, including the Queen of Jordan, Nicolas Cage, Madonna, members of the Walton Family, and numerous Country Music stars.Since the 1870’s, Parachini’s family has been mining Gold, Silver, Diamonds, Tourmaline, Ametrine, Aquamarine, and many more species of gems. His family began cutting gems in the 1960’s. He currently owns a lapidary company in the interior of Brazil, where he mines Aquamarine, Tourmaline, Quartz and other unusual gems; supplying jewelers in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.
“I was inspired to cut my own gems and create my own jewelry because I saw a need in the jewelry industry to break away from designs that are only driven by profit margins and mass appeal,” said Parachini, “I want to create a more expressive, original form of art jewelry — starting with a more unique cut of the gem, using an unusual medium such as Sphene, Andalucite, Petrified Dinosaur Bone, Coprolite, or Texas Palm Tree from the Age of Pangea.”
Parachini loves to work with Helenite, created from the ashes of Mt. St. Helens, which gives us a variety of beautiful and unique colors. Reflecting their new Texas surroundings, Parachini is creating several new lines of jewelry, called “Austin City Gems” and “The Hippie Hollow Pearl Company,” focusing on making jewelry using ecological friendly and sustainable gems, in creative and fashionable ways.
