GGCFC, Round Two

Round Two of the Great Great Crested Flycatcher Caper: apparently there was a second hummingbird that had gotten trapped on the screened-in deck and had been hiding during Saturday’s rescue mission. When I discovered him yesterday, I was glad that I had paid attention to Tony Amos’s netting technique. It took me longer to get to Ace Hardware and select an appropriate tool than it did to catch the little ruby-throat and escort him off the deck to a more hospitable tree. Of all the skills I’ve picked up over the years, yesterday none seemed quite as important as the ability to rescue a tiny helpless creature from a deadly trap that I had inadvertently created.
