Fishing for a good time in Port Aransas

Two fishing tournaments are being held in Port Aransas over Father’s Day weekend, June 17 and 18.

The Ladies Powderpuff Tournament always turns out a record number of entrants from locals to even a few from outside the state of Texas. Last year the winning stringer was over 20 pounds of fish that took first prize.  Registration is Friday, June 17, 2011 starting at 5 p.m. at Woody’s Back Porch, 132 W. Cotter Ave. in Port Aransas. (Late registration is at Woody’s, Saturday, June 18, 2011, until 6:30 a.m.) There will be a contestant meeting Friday, June 17, 2011 at 7 p.m. Rules will be explained and may be altered at the contestant meeting, so it is advisable for at least one team member to be present.For more information, check out the Web site at Or, contact Woody’s Sport Center, 136 W. The 2nd Annual Game Warden Association Fishing Tournament should also have a great number of anglers from all over the area. Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in three categories and numerous divisions. The Meet and Greet is Friday, June 17 starting at 5 p.m. the tournament is Saturday, June 18 with the weigh-in from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. All tournament events are being held at Port Aransas’s Roberts Point Park City Marina.
