Over 60 artists are donating an original piece of art to benefit the Animal Rehabilitation Keep (ARK). Art will be for sale June 30 to July 4, 2011 at Coffee Waves, 1007 State Hwy 361 in Port Aransas. You can meet the artists and ARK Director Tony Amos at a special reception, on June 30, 2011 from 5 to 7 pm. The ARK will be releasing several rehabilitated turtles on July 4th, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Mile Marker 35 on the Mustang Island Beach. These include:

  • “TwoHook,” the 182-pound Loggerhead caught by shark fisherman on Padre Island National Seashore,
  • “Leeches,” the 97-pound Loggerhead that came in covered in marine leeches and
  • “Pearl,” the 95-pound Green that was grossly entangled in fishing line.
